A Sweet Story of Musical Inspirations!

By Madhumita Bhaskar

A seemingly shy little girl, all of 5, joined my interactive musical program Madhu’s Swar Sketches with her mother. She stuck to her mother all throughout the first day, broke down, slightly overwhelmed by the new faces around her. However, she eventually calmed down and thanks to her mother’s encouragement, she did attend the subsequent trial sessions as well. Her mother was (and perhaps still is) unsure of her musical inclinations and feels her younger one might be “more musical”.

6 months later, the same little girl, became the sweetest prankster in my sessions, along with a couple of her buddies and made me lovely cards, sent occasional musical activities done at home, that her mom could possibly capture. She perhaps did not sing much in front of her lovely family back home or people, but she did love being part of the musical sessions and programs at ShrotaHouse.

Recently, it was her 6th birthday party, which became an impromptu party plan organized by her lovely family.

What made my day – She proactively asked her mother for a “music” themed birthday party! I was delighted beyond happiness when I was told this, and quickly thought of offering a little bit help, to make it as musical for her as possible, from ShrotaHouse! And rest is a sweet story. Shri. Sugnan Dani ji, a young and talented Jal Tarang artist as well as Hindustani vocalist, not only made her day, but sparked curiosity of all the other kids in the room as well as the parents – about Jal Tarang! Artists such as Sugnan ji, who quit their career to pursue music full time, are an inspiration and for them to be part of our mission is a definite path to success, purpose and satisfaction.

Here are a few of the many artists who have made ShrotaHouse special

I congratulate dearest little Kiara for loving music and coming up with the idea of a musical birthday. I congratulate more, her parents Aparna & Karthik, who took care of her interest and enthusiasm to make it happen for her! I had the pleasure of interacting with the extended family, who are music lovers too.

“Creating and nurturing a certain ease and comfort in today’s children, about Indian classical music, is bigger than any recognition one can get, as a classical musician and promoter. Kiara and her family represent and further motivate the vision and mission of ShrotaHouse.”
